Yet again, I’ve redesigned my portfolio, as the other one just looked pretty damn ugly. You can visit the site here.
The top-right mail icon is from the Project Icons Pack by Mihaiciuc Bogdan, and the rest are from the Vector Social Media Icons Pack by Icon Dock. It uses Droid Sans and Droid Serif, both from the Google Font Directory. This site was inspired/influenced by Stuart Hobday and Frank Chimero. It is run on Sinatra and hosted on Heroku. This website is on GitHub under the Creative Commons 3.0 USA Share-Alike license (basically, do what you will, but open-source yours as well).
I really like this. If you have any comments about it, please say so! I’d like to hear from you!
The newest track I’ve made. I hope you enjoy!
The is a very (very) new programming language made by Alex Suraci, the same genius behind Chyrp. It’s not exactly practical at the moment for anything, but it’s a cool language to use. So, let’s check it out.
First things first, install Haskell, as The is written in it. I’m not going to explain how to install Haskell here, but there are binaries, as well as a PPA for Ubuntu users.
Now, install Darcs. Darcs is a version system similar to Git. There are packages in the Ubuntu repositories (one called “darcs”).
You’ll need the source. Create a directory for The to live (you don’t need to keep the source, but it’s recommended). I chose to put it in ~/Install. Now, you’ll need to “get” the source:
Now, you’ll need to compile it:
Once that’s done, you should be able to change directory to examples and see some, well, examples.
If you see “yep! nope!”, everything is running fine! But, if you see this, you’ll need to add ~/.cabal/bin to your $PATH.
To add ~/.cabal/bin to your $PATH, do the following:
Rather than explain the syntax to you, I might as well show you.
It’s updated daily (hourly, actually):
There is more documentation here. You can also join Alex on IRC in #the on the irc.freenode.org server.
Since I got my computer back on the 25th (of June), I have been working on another theme for this blog. The result is Aero.
Aero is very minimalistic. Instead of using Cufón for the headers, I’m using the Google Font API and Droid Serif, a font made for Android.
If you’d like to download the latest version, you can choose between .zip or .tar.gz. Or, you can clone the GitHub repository here.
Please leave feedback, and let me know if you’re using it!
Powered by Chyrp, with Aero. Headers set in Droid Serif. Proudly hosted by Bubble.nu.
